Frequently Asked Questions
What roomsize will my WINIX Air Purifier clean?
Winix Air Purifiers are independently tested and certified by ECARF, ALLERGY UK and AHAM. These independent institutes are testing Air Purifiers for their performance with a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) and their filtration effectivity.
This means the airflow per m3 per hour and an optimal room size for each Air Purifier. Winix adheres to these standards givin after the test results. Not all manufacturers adhere to ECARG, ALLERGY UK and AHAM.
Is a WINIX Air Purifier helping for allergy sufferers?
Yes, all WINIX air purifiers have been tested and certified by Allergy UK and have been awarded by the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval, for reduction in exposure to House Dust Mite, Cat, Dog, Cockroach, Silkworm, Pollen (all types) and Fungi Allergen.
What certifications do WINIX air purifiers have?
- ECARF – The European Center for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) has set itself to, improve the quality of life of people with allergies by targeting & actively promoting research on allergies. www.ecarf.org

How often do I need to replace the filters?
One of the great features of a WINIX air purifier is the use of Smart Sensors that detect the real conditions of the environment and adjust the fan speed accordingly. Unlike other brands that don’t inform you when it is time to change your filter, or even advertise that its not neccesary at all to change filters, WINIX air purifier’s alert you when your filters need to be changed.
This, in turn, saves you money and allows the filters to work more efficiently. Again, this is all based on average usage, and home environments vary from place to place. One pack of WINIX filters, which comes with every WINIX air purifier, will typically last one year with normal use. If you have a Wi-Fi enabled WINIX air purifiwe with the WINIX Smart App, it will tell you the status of the filter at any time.
How do I replace my filter?
Please visit our WINIX filters section on our website or refer to your product manual. You can also always find your digital manual on our webiste in the manual section.
Can I leave my air purifier on all the time?
We recommend doing so because your air purifier uses smart sensors to adjust the fan speed, it will never use more energy than is necessary to maintain a healthy, comfortable environment. By leaving your WINIX running, it will continuously clean your indoor air quality. Our air purifiers have light sensors that adjust the fan speed according to day and night, putting the air purifier into a sleep mode in the dark.
Where is the best location to place my air purifier?
As a general rule, place your WINIX air purifier where it can create the best air flow. This means it needs to be placed slightly away from the wall and furnitures. Be sure to place your WINIX air purifier wherever you are going to spend the most amount of time (such as your living room or bedroom), or where you have the most concern about your indoor air quality.
There is an unpleasant smell my WINIX
Don’t worry, this odor is not dangerous or toxic! Sometimes when the unit is new, the materials from the filter can “outgas” when they are first used. Leave the unit running for a day or two and it should clear up. If you are concerned about this, leave the unit running on high in a separate room during this period…it should clear up overnight.
I hear a “buzzing” sound, while my WINIX is running.
Sometimes when the room is very quiet, you may hear a slight buzz or “electric hum” from the PlasmaWave® generator inside of the unit. This is nothing to worry about. The PlasmaWave® generator uses electricity to create a strong corona discharge causing it to occasionally make a slight noise. It’s working properly to clean the air.
What does the Activated Carbon filter do?
the Activated Carbon Filter reducing offensive household odors caused by pets, smoke, cooking, and many other odors found within your home.
What does the HEPA Filter do?
Our HEPA Filters are cleaning from 99.97% up to 99.999% of respiratory irritants and pollutants down to 0.1 microns in size. This includes: Allergens, pollen, mold spores, dust, pet dander and bacteria.
What is PlasmaWave® Technology?
WINIX Air Purifier PlasmaWave® Technology improves your indoor air quality by reducing static electricity so that air pollutants are captured by the airflow of your WINIX air purifier, which directs them into our 4-stage air purifier filtration system.
What is the Air Quality Indicator and How does it work?
The Air Quality Indicator is a visual indicator displays real-time air quality in the room with LED lights.
There will be a color-coded LED light on your control panel that indicates one of three levels of Air Quality: Red (poor), Amber (fair), and Blue (good).
For the WINIX ZERO Pro or T800, there will be four levels that include: Red (poor), Amber (fair), Green (good), and Blue (excellent).
The AQI works with smart sensors that first detects Particles or VOCs in the room. The AQI then calibrates the indoor air quality based on the volume of particles or VOCs detected in the room.
When in Auto Mode, the fan speed adjusts according to the detected amount of gas or particles.
When in Sleep Mode, the AQI light is turned off.
What do the colors mean on the LED?
The LED on the air purifier that is displayed in different colors represent the air quality in your space.
How many Fan Speeds does my WINIXhave?
WINIX Air Purifiers are using 5 different speeds which are: Sleep, Low, Medium, High and Turbo. The WINIX ZERO Compact, A330 and A332 are using 4 different Fan Speeds (Sleep, Low, Medium and High)
Does my WINIX air purifier emit any harmful Ozone?
WINIX air purifiers have been tested and certified by ECARf on Ozone and according to their independent test reports, they do not emit any harmful Ozone. It is important to know that safe emission levels should be under 0.05 ppm. Winix products rest lower than 0.01 ppm, leaving you to enjoy the benefits of purified air without worrying about harmful ozone.
Also, Air purifiers certified by CARB ensure the unit’s ozone emission level is low enough for consumers to use without having concerns about health. (CARB limits 0.05ppm ozone emission). WINIX also offers onlyECARF and CARB compliant air purifiers. In fact, WINIX air purifiers emit such low levels of ozone that they are considered harmless.
Ozone exposure is more common that you think. Even the purest places on earth like refreshing mountain tops or the beach have ozone present. According to Ozone in the Air, typical ozone concentrations found in the natural atmosphere average at 0.125ppm.
How many Air Changes per Hour for my WINIX?
All Winix air purifiers were verified for its recommended room size under 4.8 Clean Air Changes per hour. This means it will clean the corresponding size of the room 4.8 times in an hour (Every 12 minutes). However, the ACH(Air Changes per hour) will change based on the room size you use. If the room size is bigger than the recommended, the ACH will decrease accordingly.
For example, if your unit is a 360sqft room size model, and you run it in 1,740sqft size of a room (4.8 times bigger than 360sqft), it will work with only 1 ACH. But AHAM does not recommend the usage of an air purifier in a space that would cause the ACH to go lower than 2 ACH (As it wouldn’t perfectly reduce the particles in your air). T
he recommended ACH is 4.8 or more as it will give you the best quality of air.
How does the Sleep Mode work?
Sleep mode is a feature that will help you sleep during night by turning off the LED lights and decreasing the noise level on your WINIX air purifier. When activated, all LEDs on your WINIX will go off, and the Sleep Mode indicator LED will come on with 33% of brightness of other LED lights.
The Fan Speed will go down to the sleep mode speed, which will be lower than the ‘LOW’ speed of the unit. This can be activated manually by pressing either the sleep mode button or the fan speed button, depending on your WINIX.
Sleep Mode also could be activated automatically when brightness of room gets dark (Less than 2Lux) for more than 1 minute. (The automated Sleep Mode function is not featured for ZERO Compact, A330 and A332.
The automated Sleep Mode will be deactivated if the room gets bright again (more than 3Lux) for more than 1 minute.
In Sleep mode, PlasmaWave® will be deactivated automatically. If wanted, You can activate the PlasmaWave® Technology by pressing the PlasmaWave® button without deactivating the sleep mode.
